An Operating System is the software which communicates with the hardware of a computer and works as the intermediary between applications and the hardware, which includes peripheral devices such as a printer, a mouse or a keyboard. When you run an app, it sends requests to the OS using an API (Application Program Interface) and the interaction is done through a command line or a Graphical User Interface (GUI). Similar to a personal computer, hosting servers also use an Operating System that functions as a host for all of the software installed on them, including script applications or server-side software such as a flash server, a VOIP server, and many others. A virtual machine can be set up on a physical one, so it is possible to install a guest OS on it and have a different system environment in contrast to the physical server host OS.

Multiple OS in VPS Servers

We provide as many as 3 different Linux distributions for the Operating System of our VPS servers - Debian, CentOS and Ubuntu. These are some of the most stable and reliable OSs available and we provide all three instead of only 1 since we realize that you may want to set up some software that has specific requirements for the Operating System it'll run on. The latter is due to the fact that each of the three Operating Systems has a large support community behind it and there are various software applications you may install on the hosting server. Your OS selection will also determine exactly what hosting Control Panel can be set up on the VPS if you want to use one and for this reason we offer multiple Control Panels as well. In case you decide that you need a different OS, our tech support team can quickly wipe the existing one and install the one that you'd like. In addition, we offer an optional service to have the OS on your VPS updated weekly.

Multiple OS in Dedicated Servers

In case you decide to acquire one of our dedicated servers, you will find three Operating Systems on the registration page as we want to give you a larger choice for the system environment on the machine as different applications could have certain requirements. CentOS, Ubuntu and Debian feature different modules developed by their huge support communities, so you can select any of these OSs and enjoy a reliable and risk-free web hosting service. Based on your choice, you'll also have different Control Panels to choose from. Of course, we can always replace the Operating System in case the one you've selected at first does not meet the requirements of the software that you intend to run. We can also update your OS regularly in order to keep it as secure as possible using our Managed Services upgrade package.
