When a page on your site does not load, an error message will be displayed to the visitor. As there are different errors, there are different pages that'll appear, but what is common for all of them is that they're generic and almost certainly shall have nothing that resembles the layout of your Internet site, which could be aggravating for any visitor. That is the primary reason why hosting companies have introduced a function referred to as Custom Error Pages. For a variety of different errors, website visitors will see your customized content, which may be informative or amusing, in accordance with your choice, and that will match the overall layout of your website, so the pages won't appear as if they aren't part of your Internet site at all. You may use this option for a number of errors - 400 (Bad request), 401 (Unauthorized), 403 (Forbidden) and 404 (File not Found).

Custom Error Pages in Shared Hosting

The custom error pages function is offered with every single shared hosting package we offer and you'll be able to substitute all generic pages with your own with no more than several mouse clicks inside your Hepsia website hosting Control Panel. You will need to develop the actual files and to upload them to your account, then to set them for a particular domain or subdomain through the Hosted Domains section of the Hepsia CP. You could do this for each web site hosted inside the account separately, so that each set of customized pages will have the exact same layout as the site it is part of. If needed, you may always revert back to a default page from our system or to the default Apache server page. Another way to set personalized error pages is to create an .htaccess file in the domain/subdomain root folder and to include a few lines in it. If you haven't done this before, you could simply copy the necessary program code from our Help article on the subject.

Custom Error Pages in Semi-dedicated Servers

All semi-dedicated hosting plans that we supply support customized error pages and it will not take more than a couple of clicks in your Hepsia web hosting Control Panel to use this feature. The option is included in the Hosted Domains section of your Control Panel in which you will have to input the links to the custom-made files via simple drop-down menus and an easy to use interface. Of course, you have to upload them to your account before that. If you don't want to use this function at some point, you can deactivate it just as easily and pick an Apache server page or a default page from our system to be displayed if your visitors encounter an error. If you'd prefer, you can also use an .htaccess file to allow the custom made error pages. The file has to contain a specific line of code as well as a link for every error type and you can easily discover an example of the whole content for all four error types in our Help section.
